Very painful point.
Location (classical)
On the face, on the midline, at the junction of the upper third and the lower two-thirds of the philtrum.
How to find it (practical)
Seated, with the neck in extension, or in supine decubitus, locate the point at the upper third of the nasolabial groove.
Anatomy
Orbicularis oris muscle. Innervated by the buccal branch of the facial nerve and by the infraorbital nerve (trigeminal).
Needling
Oblique insertion directed superiorly, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Shui (水), water; Gou (溝), trough. The point is located in a place that resembles a water trough.
