Location (classical)
With the elbow flexed at a right angle, at the lateral end of the cubital crease, in the depression between the end of the crease and the lateral epicondyle of the humerus, over the extensor carpi radialis longus muscle.
How to find it (practical)
1. When the elbow is flexed at a 90° angle, the point can be located at the radial end of its crease. (Fig. 9.3) 2. When the elbow is flexed, Qu Chi (LI-11) is located at the midpoint of the line connecting Chi Ze (LU-5) and the lateral epicondyle.
Anatomy
Origin of the extensor carpi radialis longus muscle, brachioradialis muscle. Innervated by the posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the radial nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 1.0–1.5 cun.
Etymology
Qu (曲), bent, curved; Chi (池), shallow pool. With the elbow flexed, a depression resembling a shallow pool appears at the location of the point.
