Location (classical)
On the dorsum of the foot, in the depression formed by the junction of the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal bones with the cuneiform bones, 1.5 cun distal to ST-41, where the dorsalis pedis artery pulsates.
How to find it (practical)
Supine or seated, locate the point on the dorsum of the foot, 3 cun from Xian Gu (ST-43), where the pulse of the dorsalis pedis artery is palpable.
Anatomy
Extensor digitorum brevis muscle. Innervated by the deep fibular nerve. Dorsalis pedis artery.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Chong (冲), surging; Yang (阳), the Yang of Yin-Yang. The point lies where the dorsalis pedis artery is most prominent.
