In ventral recumbency or seated. In the vertebral region, 1.0 to 1.5 cun lateral to Da Zhui (GV-14), on the same transverse plane as it — that is, lateral to the posterior median line, below the spinous process of the seventh cervical vertebra (C7).

Skin, subcutaneous tissue, fascia, trapezius muscle, rhomboid minor muscle, serratus posterior superior muscle, splenius capitis muscle, semispinalis muscle. Superficial layer: posterior branches of the eighth cervical nerve, cutaneous branches of the posterior branches of the first thoracic nerve, branches of the accessory nerve. Deep layer: branches of the dorsal scapular nerve, transverse cervical artery and vein.
