Seated or in dorsal or ventral recumbency. In the foot region, at the midpoint between Tai Xi (KI-3) and Zhao Hai (KI-6), at the transition between light and dark skin — considering Zhao Hai (KI-6) located 1.0 cun inferior to the inferior margin of the medial malleolus.

Skin, subcutaneous tissue, flexor retinaculum; between the posterior surfaces of the tendons of the tibialis posterior muscle and the flexor digitorum longus muscle and the anterior surfaces of the tendons of the flexor hallucis longus muscle, the plantaris muscle, and the calcaneus; medial surface of the calcaneus. Superficial layer: medial cutaneous branches of the leg from the saphenous nerve, tributaries of the great saphenous vein. Deep layer: posterior tibial artery and veins, medial plantar nerve, medial calcaneal branches of the tibial nerve.
