In dorsal recumbency, with the lower limbs semi-flexed and externally rotated. At the upper extremity of the thigh, on the lateral margin of the origin of the adductor longus muscle, near the pubic symphysis.
Anatomy
Skin, subcutaneous tissue, fascia; between the medial margin of the pectineus and adductor longus muscles, the lateral margin of the gracilis muscle, and the lateral margin of the adductor minimus muscle (the most superior part of the adductor magnus muscle, originating from a more anterior portion of the pelvis). Superficial layer: anterior cutaneous branches of the femoral nerve, femoral branch of the genitofemoral nerve, great saphenous vein, and superficial inguinal lymph nodes. Deep layer: anterior and posterior branches of the obturator nerve, branches or tributaries of the medial femoral circumflex artery and vein, muscular branches of the femoral nerve. The insertion is medial to the femoral neurovascular bundle (from lateral to medial: nerve, artery, and vein).
