In dorsal recumbency with the knee flexed. In the anterior femoral region, on the sagittal plane that passes through the midpoint of the superior margin of the patella, 5.0 cun cranial to it — between the superior margin of the patella and Bi Guan (ST-31).

Skin, subcutaneous tissue, fascia, rectus femoris muscle, vastus intermedius muscle. Superficial layer: anterior cutaneous branches of the femoral nerve and lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. Deep layer: descending branches of the lateral femoral circumflex artery and veins, muscular branches of the femoral nerve.
