Seated or in dorsal decubitus, locate the point 1 cun immediately below Tai Xi (KI-3), in the depression at the medial border of the tuberosity of the calcaneus.
🔬 Anatomy
Medial surface of the calcaneus, flexor retinaculum. Innervated by the medial calcaneal branches of the tibial nerve.
💉 Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.3–0.5 cun.
📜 Etymology
Shui (水), water; Quan (泉), spring. The Shen (Kidney) governs the release of water. Shui Quan (KI-5) is the Xi (Cleft) point of the Kidney Meridian, Foot Shao Yin, and is indicated for cases of dysuria.
