Location (classical)
On the lateral aspect of the upper arm, on the line connecting LI-11 and LI-15, 7 cun proximal to LI-11 and slightly above the distal insertion of the deltoid muscle.
How to find it (practical)
With the elbow flexed, locate the point at the lower end of the deltoid muscle, on the line connecting Qu Chi (LI-11) and Jian Yu (LI-15).
Anatomy
Insertion of the deltoid muscle, brachialis muscle. Innervated by the posterior cutaneous nerve of the arm and the radial nerve.
Needling
Vertical insertion 0.5–1 cun; also obliquely directed toward the shoulder for ocular disorders.
Etymology
Bi (臂), upper limb; Nao (臑), upper arm. The point lies over the prominence of the upper arm muscle.
