Location (classical)
On the face, at the tip of the nose.
How to find it (practical)
Seated, with the neck in extension and the head supported, or in supine decubitus, locate the point at the tip of the nose.
Anatomy
Cartilage of the nose. Innervated by the external nasal branch of the anterior ethmoidal nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.1–0.2 cun, or pricked to bleed.
Etymology
Su (素), nasal cartilage; Liao (髎), foramen. The point is located on the nasal cartilage.
