Precautions
Strictly contraindicated in infants whose anterior fontanelle has not yet closed.
Location (classical)
On the top of the head, on the midline, 2 cun anterior to GV-20 (3 cun posterior to the anterior hairline).
How to find it (practical)
Seated upright or with the neck in extension, locate the point 3 cun anterior to Bai Hui (GV-20) or 1 cun posterior to Shang Xing (GV-23).
Anatomy
Epicranial aponeurosis. Innervated by the frontal nerve.
Needling
Transverse (subcutaneous) insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Xin (囟), fontanelle; Hui (會), closed. The point is located at the major fontanelle.
