Location (classical)
3 cun proximal to the dorsal carpal crease (Yangchi TE-4), in the depression between the radius and the ulna, on the radial side of the extensor digitorum communis muscle.
How to find it (practical)
With the arm extended and pronated, locate the point 3 cun immediately above the middle of the dorsal wrist crease, between the ulna and the radius, opposite Jian Shi (PC-5).
Anatomy
Motor point of the extensor pollicis longus muscle. Between the ulna and the radius. The dorsal antebrachial cutaneous nerve and the posterior interosseous nerve. The posterior interosseous artery and vein.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Zhi (支), limb; Gou (沟), ditch. Zhi refers to the upper limb. The point lies between the radius and the ulna.
