Location (classical)
1.5 cun lateral to the midline and 4 cun superior to the anterior hairline, or 1 cun anterior to GV-20 (1.5 cun posterior to BL-6).
How to find it (practical)
Seated with the head supported, locate Qu Chai (BL-4). Locate Tong Tian (BL-7) 3.5 cun directly above it. Seated with the head supported, locate Bai Hui (GV-20). Locate Tong Tian (BL-7) 1.5 cun lateral and 1 cun anterior to it.
Anatomy
Epicranial aponeurosis. Innervated by the supraorbital nerve.
Needling
Transverse (subcutaneous) insertion of 0.5–0.8 cun.
Etymology
Tong (通), to reach; Tian (天), heaven. The point lies on the head and connects with the Du Mai.
