Location (classical)
On the back, 1.5 cun lateral to the inferior border of the spinous process of the ninth thoracic vertebra (T9). (Note: there is no standard back-shu point at T8.)
How to find it (practical)
In ventral or lateral decubitus, locate the point below the spinous process of the ninth thoracic vertebra, 1.5 cun lateral to Jin Suo (GV-8).
Anatomy
Latissimus dorsi and erector spinae muscles.
Needling
0.5 cun, perpendicularly or in an oblique medial-caudal direction.
Etymology
Gan (肝), Liver; Shu (俞), point. Place where the Qi of the Gan (Liver) reaches the back.
