Location (classical)
At the lateral end of the popliteal crease, on the medial border of the tendon of the biceps femoris.
How to find it (practical)
In ventral or lateral decubitus, locate the point 1 cun lateral to Wei Zhong (BL-40).
Anatomy
Tendon of the biceps femoris, lateral head of the gastrocnemius. Innervated by the common fibular nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Wei (委), referring to Wei Zhong (BL-40); Yang (阳), lateral. The point lies lateral to Wei Zhong (BL-40).
