Location (classical)
On the lateral aspect of the hip, in the depression at the midpoint of a line drawn between the ASIS and the most prominent point of the greater trochanter.
How to find it (practical)
In lateral decubitus, locate the point 3 cun posteroinferior to Wei Dao (GB-28) or in the depression at the midpoint of the line connecting the anterior superior iliac spine and the highest point of the greater trochanter.
Anatomy
Tensor fasciae latae, gluteus medius and minimus muscles. Innervated by the superior gluteal nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 1.0–2.0 cun.
Etymology
Ju (居), to reside; Liao (髎), fossa. The point is located in the depression of the hip bone.
