Precautions
Extremely painful point.
Location (classical)
On the dorsal aspect of the 4th toe, 0.1 cun from the lateral (fibular) corner of the nail.
How to find it (practical)
Seated with the feet supported, locate the point at the intersection of the lines passing along the lateral border and the base of the nail of the fourth toe.
Anatomy
Nail bed. Innervated by the dorsal digital nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular or oblique insertion directed proximally, 0.1–0.2 cun, or prick to bleed.
Etymology
Zu (足), foot; Qiao (窍), opening; Yin (阴), Yin of Yin-Yang. The Shen (Kidney) and Gan (Liver) belong to Yin and open into the ears and eyes, respectively. The point is indicated to treat disorders of the ears and eyes.
