How to find it (practical)
Seated or in lateral decubitus, locate the point 1.5 cun directly above the apex of the ear.
Anatomy
Temporalis muscle and epicranial aponeurosis. Innervated by the auriculotemporal nerve.
Needling
Transverse (subcutaneous) insertion, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Shuai (率), along; Gu (谷), valley. The point is located in a depression above the ear.
